Umrao Jaan is a Hindi movie based on the novel Umrao Jaan Ada by Mirza Hadi Ruswa. This movie is directed by Muzaffar Ali and it stars Rishi Kapoor, Rekha, Poonam Dhillon and Deepti Naval in lead roles. Umrao Jaan is the story of a beautiful courtesan who has to hide her true identity, because she fears that if she reveals who she really is then she will be killed. She lives in luxury doing what her father does for a living - entertaining men who pay generously to be with her - until one day, when their world turns upside down. The death of a man, her father's best friend, has set off a chain of events leading to her finally revealing who she is and what she has been up to all this time.
